The 3 Essential Ingredients To Reverse Chronic Disease

The Little-Known Antioxidant That Can Help You Breathe Easy Through the Last Stretch of Winter

We are in the last stretch of winter 🎉🎉🎉 Let's do this 💪.

Supporting our body’s natural defenses is key to recovering faster from colds and flu and breathing easier. Glutathione, the body's master antioxidant, plays a crucial role in combating inflammation in the respiratory tract caused by viral and bacterial invaders.

While oral glutathione supplements exist, they are susceptible to breakdown by the digestive tract. Delivering glutathione in the form of a fine mist known as 'nebulization' provides a more effective, direct delivery to the lungs where it’s needed most. Unlike inhalers, which deliver medication in the form of powder or spray, The nebulizer turns liquid medication into a mist made up of microscopic droplets that can be delivered to the lowest sections of the lungs and even the sinus cavities.

What Does Glutathione Do?

When inhaled via a nebulizer, glutathione goes directly to the lungs and sinuses, helping to:

✅ Reduce mucus buildup and congestion
✅ Calm inflammation in the respiratory tract
✅ Enhance immune response against viral and bacterial infections
✅ Support recovery from sinusitis, bronchitis, and even long-haul respiratory symptoms

If you’re looking for additional support for colds, the flu, sinusitis, and early stages of COVID-19 infection (check out this 2021 study here), beyond over-the-counter medications, or if your symptoms are lingering, nebulized glutathione may be a valuable tool for your recovery. I usually recommend the MedPro Ultrasonic Mesh Nebulizer, a portable and reusable at-home device (the whole family can use it). Glutathione comes by prescription only from a specialized pharmacy. The 3 Essential Ingredients Required For The Reversal Of Chronic Disease

Your highest potential for health isn’t just determined by the treatments you take—it’s constrained by how stressed your nervous system is as you navigate life.

Your nervous system is the middleman between health and disease, and whether a treatment will be successful or not—meaning that while interventions like medication, supplements, diet, and even inhaled glutathione are valuable, they can only go so far if the body remains in a state of stress or active self-protection.

Research from the fields of neuroscience, epigenetics, and behavioral psychology agree that the reversal of chronic disease - from diabetes, to autoimmune diseases, depression, and heart disease, to name a few - requires more than biochemistry—it requires safety, connection, and self-understanding.

True healing happens when three key principles are met:

  1. Repeated experiences of feeling safe. When we don't feel safe, we are in survival mode. Survival mode means we are using metabolic resources to defend, not repair and heal.
  2. An embodied experience of who we really are. When we don’t understand what’s happening inside of us, we fight or fear it. Either way, we conclude there’s something wrong with us—that we are somehow broken; and
  3. Being witnessed by a caring other, because we heal in relationships, not isolation.

As a patient, ensuring these principles are met in your own healing journey, regardless of the type of practitioner or treatment you are working with, is just as critical as the treatment itself. If you're ready to explore a deeper approach to healing, let’s start the conversation.

Hi! I'm Dr. Dominika Zarzeczny, ND

First inspired by the work of Dr. Gabor Mate, Dr. Dominika has focused much of her career on helping her patients connect the dots between early adversity and trauma and their impact on lifelong health and well-being. She knows that the reversal of chronic illness involves the nervous system, and so she has dedicated her practice to helping patients master their own nervous system to positively influence their mind and body, behaviours and ultimately health outcomes. Her explanation of disease doesn't pathologize or blame, but is nuanced, humanized and filled with hope. She trained with various psychologists and experts in the field of psychological trauma. She incorporates the principles of neuroscience, attachment theory, mindfulness, Polyvagal Theory and compassionate inquiry in her approach with patients. Combining these with her naturopathic training, she likes to say that she works at the intersection of science and human experience.
