A New Direction for Your Care, Coming This Fall

I want to share something I have been building with great care for some time

When you picture a naturopathic doctor, you probably think of nutrition, supplements, and lifestyle as treatment interventions. Those tools matter, and they are not going anywhere. But over years of practice, I keep coming back to the same thing. Chronic illness rarely arrives suddenly. It accumulates quietly, over months and years, as stress and life's demands draw down the reserves you rely on to keep your body running well. This fall, my practice is pivoting to focus on exactly that.

First, a reassurance if you are already a patient

Nothing you value about our work together is going away, and nothing is being taken from you. The care you signed up for continues exactly as it is: the same labs, nutrition, supplements, and lifestyle support you already rely on. What follows is an invitation, not a requirement: a deeper direction you are welcome to step into if and when it resonates. You do not need to do anything differently. Your next visit looks like your last one unless you choose otherwise.

What the pivot means

My mission is simple, and personal: to guide women who are overwhelmed and trapped in survival mode, exhausted from trying to fix themselves from the outside in, toward a life where the mental chatter quiets, the tension releases, and health begins to flow.

At the heart of this work is reserve capacity: the buffer you draw on to meet life's demands, which your body then expresses as energy, resilience, and repair. When that reserve is full, you adapt and recover. When it is chronically depleted, even small stressors can tip you over, and your body expresses the shortfall as symptoms. Much of what we call "illness" is that margin worn too thin. The goal of our work together is to widen it.

To do that, we cannot only treat the body, because the body is where your state shows up, not where it originates. We also have to look at what usually goes unseen and unmeasured: your stress load, your habits of thinking, your sense of meaning, and your self-concept, the way you see and relate to yourself. These are not soft extras. They sit upstream of your physiology, and they shape your outcomes.

What to expect

For those beginning this work or ready to go deeper, care will unfold in three phases. This is the shape of the journey when you choose it, not a reset imposed on everyone:

Discovery.

We take a full health history, order labs, and quantify your physical stress burden alongside the unseen measures, because what gets measured can be understood and improved. Together we build a treatment plan for the months ahead.

Exploration.

A series of focused, inquiry-based sessions, drawing on the Compassionate Inquiry approach I studied with Dr. Gabor Maté, where we look at what is shaping your body's response, and build real skills to settle your nervous system and strengthen your self-concept. We track progress with validated tools, so growth is something we can see, not just hope for.

Maintenance.

Once we have done the deeper work, we check in periodically to protect your gains, adjust as life changes, and keep your reserve capacity strong.

Why now

I became a healthcare professional because I believe medicine does not yet unify mind and body the way real healing requires. This new direction is my attempt to close that gap, to offer something genuinely holistic, defined not by the tools I use but by the depth of the care itself.

Whether you are curious about this new direction or feel content exactly where we are, I am glad you are here. Watch this space over the coming weeks. I will share more about each phase, the ideas behind the work, and how to begin.

Until next time, scroll intentionally.

Hi! I'm Dr. Dominika Zarzeczny, ND

First inspired by the work of Dr. Gabor Mate, Dr. Dominika has focused much of her career on helping her patients connect the dots between early adversity and trauma and their impact on lifelong health and well-being. She knows that the reversal of chronic illness involves the nervous system, and so she has dedicated her practice to helping patients master their own nervous system to positively influence their mind and body, behaviours and ultimately health outcomes. Her explanation of disease doesn't pathologize or blame, but is nuanced, humanized and filled with hope. She trained with various psychologists and experts in the field of psychological trauma. She incorporates the principles of neuroscience, attachment theory, mindfulness, Polyvagal Theory and compassionate inquiry in her approach with patients. Combining these with her naturopathic training, she likes to say that she works at the intersection of science and human experience.

Sensitivity And Your Health 2 min read Last week I wrote about sensory processing sensitivity, the temperament trait carried by an estimated 20 to 30 percent of people. This week, I'm touching on how it can show up in seemingly unrelated symptoms. What The Research Links To This Trait The following lists show how people who tend to be more sensitive are more likely to experience these symptoms. In most cases these are the result of overstimulation, lack of support, and stressful demands...

... Also, everyone says I'm too sensitive. The search history is remarkably consistent. Why am I so tired all the time. Why does a stressful day rattle me to the core. Why am I constantly bloated. Why am I exhausted but still waking up at 3am. Then, weeks or years later, the searches change shape. Why does physically going into the office exhaust me. Why does my kid's whining drive me insane. Why does caffeine hit me so hard. Why do I need so much alone time. Am I a highly sensitive person....
