Your Body Doesn't Have Wisdom To Heal

Why The Body Has No Wisdom To Heal

The body doesn't have wisdom, certainly no wisdom to heal itself. Two reasons.

First, the body is not one thing.
โ€‹
What we call a body is a society of billions of cells living in harmony with our microflora and in constant negotiation with organisms that could just as easily turn pathogenic. And none of it holds still. Your gut lining is being shed as you read this sentence. Cells are dying on schedule and being replaced. What you call your body is not the same body it was this morning.

So when a cut closes or an infection is neutralized, that is emergence. Order appearing out of billions of interactions, with no one cell directing it. Impressive, but not wisdom.

Second, wisdom requires a thinker.
โ€‹
To hold wisdom, something has to think. Appraise. Weigh. Distill. A foot does not do this. Neither does a hand.

The brain, then? No. The brain is not the producer of thought but the receiver, an antenna that picks up information from consciousness itself and transmits it to the rest of the body by way of chemical and electrical signals.

The one who thinks is You. Soul, Spirit, Consciousness, Mind.

Call it what you like. Without the You animating all of it, there is no society, no emergence, no healing.

What's even more fascinating is how a change in thinking can produce structural change in the body. When we orient toward meaning, connection, hope, belief, expectation, safety, and relationship, we can produce structural and functional brain changes that cascade into physiological health outcomes.

Nothing changed but what was held to be true.

The wisdom to heal was never in your body. It is YOU.

Something to sit with this week:

  1. What have you accepted as inevitable about your health?
  2. Where did that thought come from?
  3. Is it true? If it is, where's the proof?

Until next time, scroll intentionally,

Hi! I'm Dr. Dominika Zarzeczny, ND

First inspired by the work of Dr. Gabor Mate, Dr. Dominika has focused much of her career on helping her patients connect the dots between early adversity and trauma and their impact on lifelong health and well-being. She knows that the reversal of chronic illness involves the nervous system, and so she has dedicated her practice to helping patients master their own nervous system to positively influence their mind and body, behaviours and ultimately health outcomes. Her explanation of disease doesn't pathologize or blame, but is nuanced, humanized and filled with hope. She trained with various psychologists and experts in the field of psychological trauma. She incorporates the principles of neuroscience, attachment theory, mindfulness, Polyvagal Theory and compassionate inquiry in her approach with patients. Combining these with her naturopathic training, she likes to say that she works at the intersection of science and human experience.

Hi Reader ,When did working on yourself start to feel like something you had to earn? As if 30 minutes for you required a reason good enough to present to someone else first. Physical movement is not a performance metric. It is not punishment for what you ate or a prerequisite for how you look. It's a labour of self-love. One of the most direct ways available to tell your nervous system that you matter enough to show up for. You do not need to earn that. Human physiology is hardwired for...

Hi Reader ,This entry covers three topics that at first glance don't appear related: a recent fish oil trial which tells us about brain nutrition, what your thigh muscle size reveals about brain structure, and what dietary protein does for muscle quality and brain health even without exercise. Save and share: I packaged today's entry into an image so it is easy to right click, copy and share if you have a friend or loved one who is still relying on a fish oil capsule and skipping the weights...
